Resolutions for Kittens

January 1, 2021

Happy New Year! As we leave 2020 behind and move on into 2021, many people are thinking about what they want to achieve in the coming year. If you have a kitten, your little ball of fur may very well have an agenda of her own. A Peterborough, ON vet lists some resolutions for baby cats below.

Grow

Little Fluffy will grow quite a bit over the next year. (You may want to take daily or even weekly pics, so you can document this adorable process.) Proper nutrition will help fuel that big growth spurt. Make sure your kitty is getting good, nourishing food. Ask your vet for recommendations.

Sleep

While all of our feline pals are tired, kittens and senior cats are particularly drowsy. Little Fluffy may sleep as much as 20 hours a day! Get your furball a comfy bed.

Train My Human

We’ll leave making predictions about politics and celebrities to others. However, we are pretty confident in this forecast! Little Fluffy may have you wrapped around her paw by this time next year.

Charm The Socks Off My Doctor

Your little buddy will need to come in a few times this year. Microchipping, spay/neuter surgery, exams, vaccines, and parasite control are all on the agenda. (We also like to toss in some purr checks, just to be thorough.)

Work On My Roar

As your feline friend grows, she’ll find her adult voice. This is always fun to watch, because cats do have very individual speech patterns. Talking to your furry buddy and replying when she answers may help her become both chattier and more interactive.

Purrfect The Pounce

Kittens are almost impossibly cute, but don’t forget that they are basically lions in smaller packages. Running, jumping, kicking, biting, and other playful habits are all very natural to little Fluffy. Help her make this important goal by giving her lots of toys and playing with her regularly.

Climb To New Heights

Cats’ claws are shaped in a way that makes it easy for them to climb up things. Climbing down, however, is a bit harder! You may spend some time this year plucking your precocious pet off drapes, shower curtains, and, occasionally, your leg.

Please reach out if ever we can be of assistance. As your Peterborough, ON veterinary clinic, we look forward to offering your kitty great care in 2021 and beyond!
